A2B features in Reuters.com article
A2B is very proud to be featured prominently in a brilliant (and funny)
Reuters.com article on mobile phones and location applications written
by Amsterdam correspondent Niclas Mika, which was published today (7th
April). It contains some great links to other cool applications in the
same area as A2B, and quotes from sources involved in this area. To
read the article, go to the page below:

Search using your
street address (US only)
If you live in the United States, you can now type in a street address
to find websites. Just go to the street address search page at http://www.a2b.cc/search-address.a2b
and type in your address.
Apologies to people living in other countries, but the US is one of the
only countries in the world which makes the kind of data which enable
this search available publicly (via the US Census' TIGER data).
A2B searches based on your IP address
A2B can now tell where you are based on your IP address. Just go to the
front page of A2B at http://www.a2b.cc
and click on "automatic". We can't guarantee 100% accuracy, but the
results can be pretty interesting. If the search shows the wrong place,
just click on the "no?" link to update your entry with Hostip, who
provide the data. Unfortunately we only get the data from Hostip once a
month so it will take at least a couple of weeks for your A2B search to
be correct.
We'll be adding some more search facilities in the coming weeks and
months - keep checking our website for more info.
More software adds A2B functionality
Two more software titles have added A2B functionality:
i) MyTracking - track
your location across maps or use Google Earth with a GPS, and search
A2B for any position. Works on Windows Mobile 2003 and Symbian Series
60 phones. See http://www.geocities.com/prestonsystems/mytracking
for details.
ii) Gallery2 GPS module -
an extension to the popular PHP-based photo gallery application,
Gallery, the GPS module allows you to upload a GPS tracklog to your
gallery. It will then geo-locate your photos based on their timestamp
and add a URL for the photo in your gallery to A2B. Find out more at http://codex.gallery2.org/index.php/Gallery2:Modules:Gps
and look at the general Gallery site at http://www.gallery2.org/
Navio software wins HP iPAQ Choice award
Tinystocks' A2B-compatible software, Navio, won 2005 the iPAQ Choice
award in the "Travel and Maps" category. European iPAQ buyers are given
a certain number of points which can be used to download software, and
Navio is one of the available titles. Congratulations Navio!
Navio has some great features including an A2B search - download some
maps (see http://forum.a2b.cc/viewforum.php?f=7
for more details) or scan and calibrate your own maps. You can then
search based on your GPS position or click-hold on any map to search
for links near the place selected. See http://www.tinystocks.com/gps.html
for more details.
A2B blocks "splogs" (spam blogs)
Here are A2B we were having a big problem with large numbers of "splog"
(or spam blog) updates through our XML-RPC ping interface, which is
mostly used by bloggers (see http://pingomatic.com
for info about how to set this up for your blog). So we decided to stop
the pesky sploggers in their tracks and block their servers. You can
see the results at:
http://www.a2b.cc/pingblock/
Reindex your site
If your site has GeoURL- or Geotags-compatible meta tags you can now log into A2B and reindex
your site if you have changed its latitude and longitude. Just go to
A2B at http://www.a2b.cc
, log in, click on User Details -> Websites Added to list the sites
you have added. You can then click on "Other things to do" for the site
you want to reindex, and select option 4, "Reindex your site".

You can read previous A2B newsletters online at:
